A Look At Our Custom Dentures

With a custom set of dentures, we can take on more advanced cases of tooth loss, so you can smile with confidence and even enjoy your favorite meals again. We have both full and partial dentures, which offer a lifelike appearance. In today’s blog, your Dallas, TX, dentist talks about our custom dentures.

The Impact of Severe Tooth Loss

Losing several of our teeth, or most or all of them, could occur due to issues like injury or advanced decay or infection. But most often, the cause is related to gum disease, or the advanced stage known as periodontitis. At this stage, the connective tissues between your teeth and gums are severed, causing missing teeth. When we lose so many of our natural teeth, this could limit meal options and deprive us of essential nutrients. You could have difficulty speaking clearly, and may feel embarrassed about your appearance and avoid social situations, impacting your quality of life. Don’t let your oral health and social life suffer, talk to our team about custom options.

Partials

A partial is designed for cases in which you are missing multiple teeth across your arch, but not enough to warrant a full set of dentures yet. Instead, we could take detailed images and measurements of your smile with digital systems, and use them to design and craft a set of prosthetics. The partial contains new teeth that are designed to fit in between these gaps, and metal clasps that attach to natural teeth to support the new teeth. The new teeth are also set in a base that is acrylic and looks like gum tissues. These can stay in place for between five and ten years in most cases.

Full Dentures

A full denture can replace all of your teeth on one or both arches. We may begin by numbing the areas around the last few teeth, so we can gently extract them. Once we remove them, we will take detailed digital images of the smile from multiple angles, and use them to design a full prosthetic, which has a full set of teeth in an acrylic base. Suction or adhesives could keep them in place, and they can last for up to ten years in some cases.
